Hello all of you beautiful Freeform Dreadlockers!  I have been making dreadlock beads again. I like to wear them because it gives my crown a bit of art love . Here is a few of the dreadlock beads I have on sale on my etsy shop.    They are made of polymer clay that I sculpt by hand.  I seal them with mod podge to make them water resistant. www.darkmoondoll.etsy.com

And when you become obsessed with having hair all the way down to your feet you don't get a chance to be in the moment of how you are in the present and not the future. Trying to run away from how you look now because you want to look like someone with longer dreadlocks will drive you insane.  Educate yourself about your own hair.  When I say educate yourself I mean really look and feel what your hair is all about by giving your body internally the nutrients it needs to be healthy inside and and out.  I notice that if I don't eat enough fresh fruit and vegetables my hair and skin suffer.  It is my body's way of telling me what I need to do to keep myself healthy.  Your body is always talking to you.  You don't have to be afraid to listen.

Don't listen to  those who think they know all about you and your dreadlocks.  No one knows you better than you.  Number 2 important thing I learned about having dreadlocks upon my head for all of these years is that your dreadlocks will never turn out how you expect them to when you are letting them grow without separation, manipulation . They will come out uniquely shaped to fit your personality.  So I give my dreadlocks love.  If I am working with paint or sealant I put my dreadlocks up in a loose fitting hat or in a loose bun so that I don't get them dirty. I listen to clues of how and what I can do to care for them.

Through listening to my locks I listen to my mind, body and soul.  I am not a slave to what society tries to make me into.

Connecting with the heart is where it started for me.  When I started meditating whenever I didn't like how I looked on the outside I began to silence the chatter of negativity and tune into my inner wisdom which I know everyone has if they take the time to be alone preferably in nature to commune and connect  with mother nature and all that is loving and  caring to the heart and soul.

Have respect for yourself and stick up for yourself when you have been mistreated and wronged.  I was laughed at while shopping in my local grocery store.  I heard this man and this woman chanting "Nappy head, nappy head, nappy head.  They were looking at me and smiling and laughing.  I went up to them and said"I love my hair.  This is me."  They tried to play it off as if it was a joke.  I by no means believe that it was innocent play.  It's not innocent when you make fun of someone just because they look different than you.

Be you ,love and respect yourself and don't let anyone tell you what you should or should not be.

This year marks 17yrs of having dreadlocks upon my head.  I still love them dearly and feel more and more free everyday. It is who I am .  I have dealt with continued negativity yet I carry on.  Those people who are quick to judge are those who have never stepped a foot in my shoes ever and they never will.

When I started this journey I felt a weight was lifted. That the time had finally come to where I am on the path to knowing who I am and where I came from.  It such a deep journey.  Most may say why is it so deep.  And to answer their question I would have to say that each time that I look in the mirror from the day that I embarked upon this journey of having dreads on my head til now I have been faced with pure honesty and truth.

I was born with this hair coming out of my scalp. It grows naturally without any manipulation. Surrendering and letting go was the key for me. Knowing that Mother Nature knows what is best. Looking to people who know nothing about you or your hair for advice will get you no where.  I learned to find what is right for me through trial and error and not relying on commercialism to make my decisions for me.

So you see it is very deep.  My dreadlocks have also inspired my art creations.  I have been making hand sculpted dreadlock beads from polymer clay.  My true love and passion has been creating Hand Embroidered Fabric Beads.  Which I have on sale on my etsy shop.  A lot of them I made especially for dreadlocks.  Here is some photographs of some of these creations.a

I hope you all are enjoying the remains of Summer 2014 .  And let your world be filled with love and joy. Warm Regards, Trina Sandress

You can dye your hair with spices and herbs that you find out in your garden or in your cupboard. I tried this natural dye because I was using these spices to dyes some fabrics.  The rosemary rinse I have been doing all of these years have given my Freeform Dreadlocks red tint to them and the color get deeper each year.   The paprika, tumeric and cinnamon gave a bit of vibrancy when looking at my dreads through the sun.

Natural hair dyes are the way for me.  I spent countless years frying the crap out of my hair.  After about 7yrs of not using chemical dyes my dreads are happier and healthier than they have ever been.
Thank you all for your support and loving words.

Regards,
Trina Sandress
I refuse to deny my self of being my own creative individual thinking soul that cares more about mother nature and the fate of this planet.  I realized it starts with the self and loving who you are for what you are.  Growing and sharing the knowledge that I find may be helpful to others is important to me.
Hello Everyone,
Thank you stopping by to see what is going on within my Freeform Dreadlocks Journey.  It has been a long and joyous journey.  Full of lessons I have learned about society's view upon someone who is not uniform and conforming in their ways.  I am the non conformist.  I was born that way and I fully embrace it,   I recently posted three videos on my youtube channel.  One is a tutorial on how I wear my Freeform Dreadlocks in bantu knots before going into the shower so as not to get them wet.

The other one is about removing thick heavy substances from you dreads like wax,or other heavy oils.

The other is answering a viewer's question on if it is alright for him the freeform dread if he has his head shaved on the sides and back of his head.

I hope you are doing what you love and being your authentic selves in every moment of your day.

Warm Regards
Trina Sandress

Hello Everyone who come to my humble little blog.  I have decided to dedicate some more time to this particular blog.  I feel the need to share all of the beauty and freedom I feel from letting my locks do as they wish.  My dreadlocks have grown and evolved within the almost 17yrs.  that I have had them.  And I would have to say that they keep getting healthier and healthier every year.

Here is a few photos of how they are now. At the root of my dreads I can feel a strength and wisdom like that of a tree.  With each passing year I too become wiser like an ancient tree.  I accept new knowledge into my mind, body and soul . Mother Nature definitely knows best.

I hope you all are enjoying the spring season.
