I hope you all are enjoying the end of your Summer season. I have been quite busy making lots of art. In particular I have been having lots of fun making dreadlock beads. And I also created a new dreadlock video. I get a lot of the same questions over and over. Most of them involve wanting your dreads to look like mine. That is an impossiblities my friends. Love your dreads for the uniqueness of them all just like you are a unique individual so too are your locks if you are freeforming.

Hello Everyone,
I hope you all are enjoying the end of your Summer season.
You have to let go of conventional standards of what dreadlocks are suppose to look like when you decide to let Mother Nature take her course. Oh and I also make necklaces and bracelets using polymer clay. They are all on my etsy store at www.darkmoondoll.etsy.com

Good point made. I can only imagine how many folks want dreadlocks like yours. Wonderful thing is, our own dreads will grow to fit us better than anyone else's could. Just like our skin fits us because it was made by us.
ReplyDeleteI imagine many people just want locs as thick as yours and I practically recommend for anyone in their first year that is exceptionally displeased with their dread size to just comb out and start again because you'll enjoy the process more if you start on the right step plus to my thinking you'll still have all your growth from that time just not the maturity. Easier said than done but it seems easier than trying to force maturing locs to merge into each other.
I've notice many people (incl. myself) start with a million tiny dreads and end up wanting thicker ones simply because our hair was too short to make thicker dreads in the first place. I couldn't wait to start my journey but it is going SO much better with 4" of hair compared to 1" so that's another recommendation.
:))) I really like the colour combinations of your dreadbeads they stand out well on your darker hair Ms. Sandress.
Have a good week! Peace.

Thank you for your comment. I didn't concentrate how long, thick, short my dreads were going to be in the beginning. I just let go and nature took over. For me that is the essence of freeform dreadlocks.
ReplyDeleteBrightest Blessings,
Trina
I agree. The advice was mearly intended for those, like myself who may come across your lovely blog pages, whether they're free-forming, cultivating or somewhere in between.
DeleteStay positive :)))
